It is far cheaper to make one call than to overfill a container — an overloaded box legally cannot be transported and will have to be levelled before we can lift it.

No. The load has to sit level with the top rail so it can be tarped and legally transported on South Carolina roads. If it is heaped, the driver cannot take it and you will need to level it before we return. When you are loading, keep the bulky items flat and fill the voids rather than building a pile at one end.

It is the sweet spot for whole-home cleanouts, mid-size remodels and most roof tear-offs, and its walls are low enough that you can throw things over the side rather than walking everything through the door. South Carolina restricts a number of materials from ordinary landfill disposal — electronics such as TVs, monitors and computers, appliances containing refrigerant, tires, lead-acid batteries, used oil and filters, and yard waste among them. On top of that we cannot take liquids, wet paint, propane tanks, asbestos-containing material or other hazardous chemicals. Yes. Mattresses, box springs, sofas, tables and general furniture are all fine in a standard mixed load. Breaking down bulky items before they go in makes a real difference to how much you fit — a disassembled sectional takes maybe half the volume of an intact one.

Appliances without refrigerant — washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers — are fine. Anything containing refrigerant, including refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers, needs the refrigerant professionally recovered before it can go to a landfill. Set those aside and we will point you to the right place.

Not wet. Latex paint can go in once it is fully dried out — stir in kitty litter, sawdust or a paint hardener, leave the lid off until it is solid, and it becomes ordinary solid waste. Oil-based paint, stains and solvents must go to a household hazardous waste collection instead.

Everything else goes to a permitted disposal facility. Materials restricted from ordinary South Carolina landfill disposal are separated out and routed to the right recycler.
